Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Record tenant payments, billing activity, and accounts receivable adjustments within the housing accounting system to keep financial data current and accurate.
- Prepare and enter journal entries related to cash receipts and other routine accounting activity in the general ledger.
- Coordinate bank deposit processing, update deposit transactions in the accounting system, and match deposit records to posted receipts.
- Reconcile cash-related general ledger accounts and complete monthly bank reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Contribute to month-end and year-end close activities by preparing manual entries, supporting account analysis, and helping ensure timely completion of close tasks.
- Track and reconcile grant receivables and assist with financial reporting requirements for both internal teams and external parties.
- Generate recurring monthly and quarterly accounting reports, including payment and disbursement-related documentation as needed.
- Provide backup support for bookkeeping functions, assist with routine accounting tasks, and contribute to audit preparation, budget support, insurance administration, and other ad hoc finance projects. Requirements
- Experience preparing journal entries and working within a general ledger environment.
- Hands-on knowledge of accounts receivable processes, cash application, and account reconciliation.
- Familiarity with accounts payable support and standard month-end accounting procedures.
- Ability to manage bank deposits, balance cash activity, and investigate variances with accuracy.
- Proficiency using accounting software and spreadsheets to maintain records and produce reports.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a collaborative setting.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with internal stakeholders and external contacts.
