This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career accounting professional interested in developing broad experience within a nonprofit school environment. Reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant supports day-to-day accounting operations, with a primary focus on transactional accounting, accounts payable, reconciliations, and administrative financial support. The Staff Accountant will help bring the accounts payable function fully in-house by managing vendor setup and maintenance, invoice review and coding, payment processing, documentation, and regular reporting. The position also supports bank and credit card reconciliations, deposits, bi-weekly payroll processing and related journal entries, student billing, and month-end close activities. As the Staff Accountant grows in the role, they will gain exposure to endowment accounting, financial statement and 403(b) audits, Form 990 support, accounting policies and procedures, grant reporting, and other areas of financial reporting. The position will also provide administrative support to the Business Office and assist with certain HR functions as needed. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines. Strong communication, customer service, problem-solving, and independent work skills are important, along with a high level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and be proficient in Excel. One to three years of accounting or finance experience is preferred, although entry-level candidates with strong relevant internship experience will be considered. Experience with QuickBooks is preferred. Candidates must be able to pass required CORI, fingerprinting, and background checks and provide recent, relevant professional references.
