A private equity–backed construction services organization operating in a highly project-driven environment. The company supports complex commercial and industrial projects with a strong focus on job cost control, cash flow management, and financial accountability.

The business is scaling rapidly through acquisitions and organic expansion, creating strong long-term career growth opportunities within the finance and accounting function. Accounting plays a critical role in supporting operations and leadership as the project portfolio grows.
The Opportunity:
This is a hands-on Project Accountant role focused on supporting construction projects from a financial perspective. The Project Accountant will partner closely with project managers, operations, and senior accounting leadership to ensure accurate job cost tracking, billing, and financial reporting across active projects. The Project Accountant's Responsibilities Support the monthly close process with a strong emphasis on project-related journal entries, job cost reconciliations, and variance analysis. Maintain accurate job cost accounting, including labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and change orders. Partner with project managers to monitor project budgets, costs incurred, percent complete, and forecast-to-complete reporting. Support project billing activities, including progress billings, AIA billing, retainage tracking, and revenue recognition. Reconcile project costs and billings to the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies. Prepare supporting schedules for financial statements, audits, and lender or sponsor reporting related to projects. Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes related to project activity, including subcontractor payments and customer collections. Identify opportunities to improve project accounting processes, reporting, and system utilization as the organization grows. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. One to three plus years of accounting or project accounting experience, preferably within construction or a project-based services environment. Solid understanding of job cost accounting, revenue recognition, and construction financial processes. Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyze detailed financial and job cost data. ERP system experience preferred, particularly within construction or project accounting systems. #LI-MV1 #
