Job Description

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Inventory Control & Reconciliation:
Perform monthly reconciliations between the sub-ledger inventory balances and the general ledger. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies. Cost 
Assignment:
 Assigning costs to products, including direct costs and indirect costs
Cost Analysis:
Maintain and update standard costs for raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods. Analyze and report on variances, including material usage, labor efficiency, and overhead absorption.
Month-End Close:
Prepare and post inventory-related journal entries. Calculate and record reserves for slow-moving, excess, and obsolete (SLOB) inventory.
Auditing & Compliance:
Coordinate and oversee physical inventory counts and routine cycle counting programs. Ensure compliance with internal controls and GAAP standards.
Process Improvement:
Partner with operations, purchasing, and warehouse teams to improve inventory tracking workflows and reduce production waste.
Data Entry Review:
Review and analyze production data for accuracy and reasonableness. Investigate and make corrections as necessary.
JOB SUMMARY
The Inventory Cost Accountant will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and reconciling company inventory and manufacturing costs to ensure accurate financial reporting and valuation of inventory. This role ensures the integrity of inventory data within the ERP system, conducts variance analysis, manages month-end close procedures for inventory, and collaborates with warehouse and production teams to optimize inventory controls and cost efficiency. Additionally, this role will assist the Controller with various month end accounting tasks.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
An associate or bachelor's degree preferred Intermediate knowledge and understanding of Accounting principles/practices 2+ years of accounting experience Advance knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) Strong analytical skills with high attention to details and trends Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports Ability to work well with others Strong organizational skills and capable of meeting set deadlines Professional verbal and written communication skills
