Send job Job Details Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell, P.C. (Councilor) is seeking motivated and ambitious Accounting Interns to join our team in Bethesda, Maryland. This is an exceptional opportunity for students and recent graduates who are interested in building a career in accounting. Many of our professionals began their careers at Councilor as interns and have advanced into rewarding full-time roles. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience, work alongside experienced professionals, and develop valuable skills in a public accounting environment. Requirements We are looking for senior-level accounting students or a recent graduates who are eager to learn and contribute in a professional services environment.
Candidates should possess:
A strong interest in pursuing a career in accounting and obtaining CPA licensure At least 120 completed credit hours upon graduation and a plan to earn the remaining credits required for CPA eligibility Successful completion of Intermediate Accounting coursework (or equivalent) and a strong understanding of accounting principles Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Demonstrated initiative in learning and problem solving The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment A positive attitude and commitment to producing quality work Our internship program is designed to provide broad exposure to the public accounting profession. Interns work alongside professionals in our Tax, Audit, Accounting, and Operations teams, gaining valuable experience across multiple practice areas.
Responsibilities may include:
Assisting with month-end financial reporting processes Preparing and posting journal entries Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable functions Performing bank and balance sheet reconciliations Assisting with audit engagements and related documentation Supporting tax return and tax form preparation Assisting with budgeting and forecasting activities Tracking and reconciling inventory records Supporting payment processing activities Preparing ad hoc reports and internal analyses Performing data entry and maintaining financial records Completing assigned projects accurately and within established deadlines Learning and applying accounting policies, procedures, and best practices Collaborating with and learning from experienced accounting professionals Other duties as assigned About Councilor Councilor offers a diverse and inclusive work environment with flexible hours, competitive pay, and reimbursement for public transportation (Metro) and parking expenses.
