Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a non-profit organization in Catonsville, Maryland in a fully onsite contract-to-permanent role. This position will provide critical day-to-day accounting support while partnering closely with finance leadership to strengthen core accounting operations and maintain accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting experience, thrives in a hands-on environment, and is comfortable stepping into a broad range of responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead monthly close activities, ensuring financial records are updated accurately and reporting deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger.
  • Perform detailed reconciliations for bank accounts and balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Support billing and related accounting transactions to ensure complete and accurate revenue tracking.
  • Assist with budget monitoring and forecasting activities by compiling data and analyzing financial results.
  • Coordinate audit preparation by organizing schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to finance-related requests.
  • Partner with finance leadership to learn essential daily accounting processes and provide reliable operational backup coverage.
  • Use QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel to manage accounting data, prepare reports, and improve financial visibility.
