Academic Accounting Internship

Job DescriptionJob Description We're seeking a detail-oriented and analytical academic Accounting Intern to support our Medicaid billing team. This internship will provide hands-on experience in accounting principles, Medicaid regulations, and billing procedures. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a degree in Accounting or a related field and have a strong interest in healthcare accounting.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing and submitting Medicaid claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations
• Review and analyze Medicaid billing data, identifying trends and areas for improvement
• Support the reconciliation of Medicaid accounts, resolving discrepancies and ensuring accurate financial reporting
• Collaborate with the billing team to implement process improvements and enhance efficiency
• Develop and maintain documentation of Medicaid billing procedures and policies
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on billing and accounting topics

Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in accounting or a related field
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements
• Familiarity with Medicaid regulations and billing procedures (or willingness to learn)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience with accounting software or billing systems
• Knowledge of healthcare accounting and Medicaid regulations
• Experience working in a team environment
