Location:
Gaithersburg, MD About Us We are a respected general contractor specializing in heavy civil, highway, and concrete construction. Our projects play a critical role in building and maintaining infrastructure that keeps communities moving. Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support our growing portfolio of heavy civil and infrastructure projects. This role will work closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate financial tracking, reporting, and compliance throughout the lifecycle of each project. Key Responsibilities Manage project financials from startup through closeout Track and analyze job costs, budgets, and forecasts Prepare and process billings, including progress billings and time & materials Monitor contract values, change orders, and cost adjustments Assist with month-end close, WIP reporting, and financial reconciliations Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure financial accuracy and performance Maintain subcontractor and vendor records, including compliance documentation Support audits and ensure adherence to company and client requirements Identify cost trends, risks, and opportunities to improve project performance Qualifications Minimum 3+ years of project accounting experience in construction Experience in heavy civil, highway, or concrete construction is highly preferred, but not required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred, but not required Strong understanding of job costing and construction accounting principles Experience with Sage 300 CRE or Viewpoint Vista is a plus Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Excellent communication skills with both financial and operational teams What We Offer Competitive salary based on experience Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, 401k, etc.) Stable backlog of impactful infrastructure projects Growth opportunities within a well-established organization Supportive, team-driven culture with strong leadership All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, age, color, sex (including pregnancy), religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable laws or regulations.
