Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will support the accounting department by assisting with financial record-keeping, account reconciliation, and data entry. Your contributions will ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act). This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise in corporate and governmental accounting within a fast-paced environment that values precision, integrity, and continuous learning. Duties Assist with maintaining the general ledger by preparing journal entries and performing account analysis Reconcile balance sheets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other financial statements to ensure accuracy Support month-end and year-end closing processes through data entry and account reconciliation Manage accounts payable and receivable using various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft Help prepare financial reports, including budget reports and tax documentation, ensuring compliance with GAAP and governmental regulations Process payroll data using systems like ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or UltiPro while ensuring accuracy in payroll management Conduct detailed account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly Support internal audits by providing necessary documentation and ensuring adherence to SOX controls Assist with data entry tasks requiring high accuracy, including 10 key typing and double-entry bookkeeping Requirements Proven experience in corporate or governmental accounting with familiarity in public accounting practices Strong understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms Knowledge of payroll management systems like ADP or Paychex is highly desirable Experience with financial software such as UltiPro or Kronos for timekeeping and payroll processing Ability to perform detailed account analysis and reconcile accounts accurately under tight deadlines Familiarity with tax regulations and non-profit accounting practices is a plus Excellent math skills coupled with strong attention to detail for precise data entry and bookkeeping tasks Understanding of financial compliance standards including SOX controls and GAAP guidelines Effective communication skills to collaborate across teams and support audit processes Join us to be part of a dedicated team that values accuracy, integrity, and continuous professional growth.
