Accountant

We are looking for an Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations for a Contract position based in Maryland. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable managing core accounting activities, maintaining accurate records, and helping ensure timely reporting. The position offers a 30-hour workweek and requires someone with strong attention to detail who can work confidently across payables, receivables, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee accounts payable activities by reviewing invoices, processing payments, and maintaining organized vendor records.
• Manage accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, payment tracking, and follow-up on outstanding balances.
• Perform regular bank and account reconciliations to verify accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Prepare and post journal entries while supporting the integrity of the general ledger.
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements and other routine accounting reports.
• Maintain accurate financial data within QuickBooks and help keep accounting records current and complete.
• Support month-end accounting tasks to ensure deadlines are met and documentation is properly retained.
