Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Cost Accountant to support manufacturing finance activities for a long-term contract opportunity in Biddeford, Maine. This role focuses on analyzing production costs, maintaining accurate standard costing, and helping leaders make informed financial decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of cost accounting in a manufacturing setting and can work effectively with detailed financial data and operational teams.
Responsibilities:
  • Review manufacturing cost data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improved financial performance.
  • Maintain and update standard costs to reflect current production processes, materials, and labor inputs.
  • Analyze inventory, production, and overhead information to ensure accurate cost reporting and valuation.
  • Partner with plant and finance teams to explain cost results and support operational decision-making.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports related to cost analysis, margin performance, and manufacturing expenses.
  • Reconcile cost-related accounts and investigate discrepancies to improve accuracy in financial records.
  • Support system-based costing activities, including work connected to Dynamics AX, as needed.
  • Contribute to month-end and period-end close processes by delivering timely cost accounting analysis.
