This role will be responsible for day-to-day property-level accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close activities while partnering closely with property management and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely financial results. The Property Accountant role is a hybrid position based in Birmingham, MI. This is a permanent opportunity offering exposure to a dynamic real estate portfolio, strong collaboration with operations teams, and the ability to grow within a stable and expanding organization. Property Accountant Responsibilities Manage day-to-day accounting activities for assigned real estate properties or portfolio Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for property-level reporting Execute month-end close processes including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Reconcile bank accounts, tenant accounts, and general ledger accounts on a recurring basis Record and review revenue, including rent billing, lease adjustments, and tenant reimbursements Support accounts payable processing related to property operations, vendors, and capital expenditures Partner with property management teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and budget alignment Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting for assigned properties Prepare variance analyses and explain fluctuations in actuals versus budget/forecast Support audits and provide requested documentation for internal and external auditors Ensure compliance with accounting policies, lease agreements, and internal controls Property Accountant Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required 2-5+ years of accounting experience required Property accounting or real estate industry experience strongly preferred Experience with Yardi, MRI, or similar property management systems preferred Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to work independently while managing multiple properties and deadlines Strong communication skills with ability to partner cross-functionally with operations teams Real estate exposure (commercial, residential, or mixed portfolio) preferred•UHY Advisors' Resource Solutions Group provides clients with accomplished professionals to support finance, accounting, internal audit and tax teams.
