Accountant/Bookkeeper Diocese of Gaylord Employment Type:

Gaylord, MI General Summary:
The accountant/bookkeeper will work in conjunction with assigned parishes to ensure proper maintenance of accounting records through the processing of receivables and payables. This position also prepares routine and special accounting reports. The accountant position directs these efforts with technical expertise within a framework of share ministry and Catholic values.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Communicates, both in general and in response to specific inquiries, with parishes. Compiles statistics and information such as cash receipts and expenditures, accounts payable, receivable, and other information as requested for parishes. Generates various accounting reports (e.g., general ledger, payroll, etc.) for parishes. Coordinates year end reporting. Assists parishes with payroll system. Prepares and assists in preparing annual reports and various budgets. Performs other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associate degree in finance, accounting, bookkeeping or another related field; bachelor's a plus. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in standard accounting practices. Intacct and Microsoft Office Suite experience preferred. Experience in all aspects of financial reporting and bookkeeping; including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and bank deposits. Situational awareness. Handles sensitive information while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Physical Demands:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working with hands in repetitive motion. May require reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, and bending. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
