Job Description

District Accountant Hastings Area School System Position/Type:
Full-Time, 12-month employees
Salary:
$60,000-$70,000-Commensurate with education and experience, plus comprehensive benefits package and generous paid time off
Location:
Central Office, Business Office Reports:
Assistant Superintendent of Business and Finance
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree in accounting required. 2. Fund accounting experience preferred. 3. Accounts payable and payroll experience are a plus. 4. Experience with integrated computerized accounting systems required. 5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required. 6. Experience with SchoolsOpen software preferred. 7. Ability to work independently and make good decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties of this job include but are not limited to: 1. Process financial transactions and post to general ledger. 2. Perform month-end closing activities and prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP. 3. Assist with grant drawdowns and related financial documentation to support timely reimbursement and grant compliance. 4. Assist in preparation and monitoring of annual budgets. 5. Reconcile bank accounts monthly. 6. Complete credit card reconciliations, ensuring transactions have appropriate receipts, documentation, and account coding. 7. Assists in the property tax collection process and reconciliation. 8. Assist in developing, implementing and monitoring internal controls. 9. Assist and/or serve as backup for accounts payable function. 10.Prepare and manage monthly cash flow report. 11. Prepare and submit quarterly Medicaid cost reports. 12.Prepare various financial reports and analysis as needed. 13.Prepare schedules, gather information and assist auditors as needed. 14.Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Business and Finance.
