Job Summary This position performs complex accounting activities and supports the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of financial statement schedules and variance analysis. This role prepares complex journal entries, reviews reconciliations prepared by staff, and assists with regulatory reporting and CECL data validation. The Senior Accountant conducts technical accounting research and prepares documentation for review by accounting leadership. The position provides first level review while ensuring adherence to internal controls and establish policies. Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares and reviews complex balance sheet and income statement reconciliation; ensures proper documentation and timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Prepares complex and non-routine journal entries, including accruals, investment accounting entries, and consolidation entries.
  • Performs first-level review of journal entries and reconciliations prepared by accounting specialist staff; provides guidance and training as needed.
  • Assists in preparation and consolidation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including preparation of supporting schedules and draft footnote disclosures.
  • Performs detailed variance analysis of financial results and prepares management reporting commentary for review by the Assistant Controller.
  • Assists in preparation of regulatory reports, including Call Report support schedules and validation procedures.
  • Assists with CECL model data validation and supporting analysis; prepares documentation for review by the Assistant Controller.
  • Prepares audit schedules and responds to routine auditor requests; escalates complex matters to the Assistant Controller.
  • Assists with asset/liability management reporting support and financial modeling data preparation.
  • Supports month-end and year-end close process; ensures assigned deadlines are met and documentation is complete.
  • Maintains cross-training within the accounting department to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Maintains and protects confidentiality of customer and financial information.
  • Complies with all regulatory requirements applicable to the position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree required with focus on accounting. Comparable accounting experience may be considered.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of accounting and/or banking experience. Requirements SKILLS
  • Knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the financial industry.
  • Passion for providing a stellar customer service experience to all customers (external and internal) and ability to instill this passion in others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (tactfulness, cooperation, courteousness and customer friendliness) are necessary to represent the bank in a positive manner.
  • Positive and cooperative approach when working with others.
  • Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly, concisely and effectively, with attention to detail for visually appealing output and accurately proofreading publications.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively present information to customers and management.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with effectiveness in developing tasks and managing resources to achieve targets/goals.
  • Ability to maintain the integrity of highly confidential customer and Bank information.
  • Ability to multi-task while paying attention to details, advanced problem solving, critical thinking and organizational skills.
  • Self-Starter and possess an entrepreneurial attitude.
  • Strong computer skills with a proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Work Environment
