Job Description

Staff Accountant Position Summary As part of the Wirt-Rivette Group's continued growth, the Staff Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the organization's financial records and supporting efficient financial operations. This position is responsible for performing general accounting functions, managing account reconciliations, supporting the month-end and year-end close processes, and contributing to financial reporting and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in accounting principles, progressive accounting experience, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. This individual will help ensure accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and support the development of scalable accounting processes that align with the company's continued expansion. Accounts Payable & Receivable Review and process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, and proper approvals. Reconcile vendor statements and proactively resolve discrepancies. Monitor accounts receivable aging. Investigate and resolve customer and vendor account issues. Identify opportunities to improve accounts payable and accounts receivable processes and controls. General Accounting Prepare, review, and post journal entries accurately and timely. Maintain the general ledger and supporting schedules. Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate variances. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities. Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages. Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls. Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits and tax reporting requirements. Financial Analysis & Reporting Analyze financial transactions and account activity to ensure data accuracy and completeness. Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and cash flow reporting. Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses for management. Support key business decisions through data analysis and financial insight. Identify trends, variances, and opportunities for operational and financial improvement. Leadership & Collaboration Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business objectives and improve financial processes. Serve as a resource for accounting-related questions across the organization. Assist in training and mentoring junior team members as needed. Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives assigned by management. Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Engage AI and other technologies to improve efficiencies and work systems. General Office Support Oversee banking activities, including deposits, loan payments, and account maintenance as needed. Support office operational activities related to financial administration. Coordinate procurement and inventory of office supplies and business necessities. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 3+ years of progressive accounting experience in general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, or related finance functions. Strong understanding of GAAP. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Experience with accounting software and ERP systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Preferred Experience supporting audits, budgeting, forecasting, or financial analysis. Experience with process automation, business intelligence tools, or AI-enabled accounting solutions. Experience in a high-growth or multi-entity organization.
