Job Description

We are looking for a Property Accountant to support a large commercial real estate portfolio in Woodbury, New York. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable managing high-volume accounting activity, maintaining accurate financial records, and delivering reliable monthly reporting. The successful candidate will bring strong property accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and hands-on experience with Yardi and month-end close processes.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of approximately 30 commercial properties each month, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and on schedule.
  • Complete month-end close activities, including reviewing account activity, preparing journal entries, and finalizing financial results within established deadlines.
  • Maintain the general ledger for assigned properties and ensure balances are properly supported through regular reconciliations.
  • Apply accrual-based accounting principles to record expenses, revenue, and adjustments in accordance with company policies and reporting standards.
  • Prepare and review property-level financial statements and related schedules to support internal reporting needs.
  • Use Yardi software to enter, monitor, and reconcile accounting data while helping maintain the integrity of property financial records.
  • Investigate discrepancies, resolve variances, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to address accounting issues affecting assigned properties.
