Job Description

Description We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Staff Accountant to support our accounting team with daily financial tasks, reconciliations, and reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their accounting career who is eager to learn, grow, and develop a strong foundation in financial operations. This not a remote position. This is an in office position in Sikeston, MO. A Day in the Life You'll start your day reviewing account details, entering financial data, and assisting with routine reconciliations. Throughout the day, you'll support month-end close activities, collaborate with senior accounting staff, and help maintain accurate financial records that contribute to the company's overall financial health. What You'll Do
  • Assisting with daily accounting entries and general ledger maintenance
  • Preparing and posting journal entries with appropriate documentation
  • Reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts
  • Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
  • Preparing and organizing financial reports and schedules
  • Assisting with audits by providing necessary documentation and support
  • Reviewing expense reports for accuracy and policy compliance
  • Maintaining organized and accurate financial files and records
  • Collaborating with senior accountants on special projects or analyses What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial work
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professional integrity What Will Help You Stand Out
  • Internship or previous experience in accounting or bookkeeping
  • Prior experience using Sage, QuickBooks, Xero (or similar accounting software) is highly preferred
  • Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic formulas)
  • Exposure to month-end closing activities
  • Familiarity with audit preparation or working with external auditors Desired Attributes
