Pay is commensurate with experience and aligned with industry standards for the Troy, MO market. Position Overview The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the company's daily accounting operations, with a primary focus on the growing pipeline construction and repair business and related affiliated entities. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely month-end close activities, managing intercompany activities, and supporting project accounting and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail?oriented, organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a construction?industry environment where accuracy and timeliness directly support field operations and project performance. Key Responsibilities Prepare and process project billings in accordance with contract terms, including progress billings, unit?price billings, T&M, and change orders. Coordinate with project managers to ensure billing information is accurate, complete, and submitted on a timely basis. Monitor customer account balances and aging reports to ensure timely collections and follow up with customers regarding outstanding invoices and payment status when needed. Monitor and review project costs for accuracy and assist with job cost reporting. Record and reconcile intercompany transactions among affiliated companies. Collaborate with project managers and operations team to ensure timely and accurate financial information. Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts monthly. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes including journal entries and variance analysis. Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and supporting documentation. Assist with vendor setup, W?9 collection, and compliance documentation as needed. Collaborate with the Accounting Manager and other team members on process improvements, internal controls, and reporting. Provide general accounting support across the department as business needs evolve.
Qualifications Required:
Prior accounting experience in a corporate or business environment Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and account reconciliation processes Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software Experience with Viewpoint (Vista) construction ERP software High attention to detail, accuracy, and follow?through Ability to work onsite in Troy, MO on a full?time basis
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree Experience in construction, industrial services, and/or project?based accounting Familiarity with job?costing, progress billing, or unit?rate billing Experience with intercompany accounting and multi-entity organizations Key Competencies Knowledge of construction accounting concepts, including job costing and WIP reporting Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while working both independently and as part of a small accounting team Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial information Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn, grow, and take on increasing levels of responsibility Work Environment This position is an in?office-based role and works closely with accounting, project management, and operations teams. The position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism in a deadline-driven construction environment.
