Job Description

Job Description The Tax Accountant serves as a key technical resource within the Finance organization, supporting corporate tax compliance, technical accounting, internal controls, documentation, and finance transformation initiatives. This role is designed for a CPA who enjoys solving complex accounting issues, creating structure, and building scalable processes that strengthen the Finance organization. In addition to traditional tax responsibilities, the Tax Accountant will partner across Finance to improve documentation, standardize processes, support audit readiness, and enhance organizational knowledge. This position will serve as a key liaison between internal accounting & finance teams and external advisors, with a focus on improving visibility, enhancing processes, and reducing risk. The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting professional who combines strong technical skills with intellectual curiosity, exceptional communication, and a focus on adding value through integrity, collaboration, excellence, and stewardship.
Tax Compliance & Execution:
  • Prepare and/or coordinate with external tax team the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns across multiple entities, including sales & use taxes, excise tax, occupancy tax, property tax, and income & franchise taxes
  • Manage the tax calendar to ensure all deadlines are met with accuracy and consistency
  • Review work prepared by external advisors and provide informed internal oversight
  • Support responses to tax notices, inquiries, and audits
  • Support tax provisions, reconciliations, and related accounting entries in coordination with the Accounting team, as well as the external audit and tax advisors
  • Partner with FP&A and Treasury to understand and communicate tax impacts on cash and financial forecasts
  • Assist in analyzing tax implications of business initiatives and strategic decisions
  • Research, document, and interpret federal, state, and local tax regulations with applicability to Biltmore's business activities.
Technical Research & Documentation:
  • Research complex accounting & tax transactions; prepare technical accounting & tax memorandums
  • Provide technical guidance to the Finance organization and leadership
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and process documentation
  • Promote standardization and consistency across multiple legal entities
  • Partner with Finance leadership to strengthen documentation, onboarding, and cross-training
  • Support Finance governance initiatives
Process Improvement & Special Projects:
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes
  • Support enhancements to Workday, Adaptive Planning, and other financial systems
  • Participate in finance transformation initiatives
  • Assist with legal entity simplification and organizational projects
  • Lead special projects to support the Finance function and

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA designation required
  • 4-8+ years of public accounting and/or corporate accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and corporate taxation
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to operate independently and take ownership of core processes
  • Exceptional written communication and documentation abilities, including the ability to simplify complex topics
