OVERALL POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Staff Accountant supports daily accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and analysis across multiple entities. This role ensures accurate and timely financial information, supports audits and internal controls, and helps improve accounting processes. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, organized, and able to independently manage multiple priorities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Month-End Close & General Accounting Support the monthly financial close process, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation. Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting. Complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and resolve identified discrepancies. Reconcile intercompany transactions and balances across multiple entities. Perform accounting activities for various corporate and community entities as assigned. Maintain accurate and complete accounting records in accordance with established accounting practices and organizational procedures. Financial Reporting & Analysis Perform monthly financial analysis, including review and investigation of significant variances, trends, and unusual activity. Prepare analyses and supporting schedules for monthly financial statement packages. Generate, prepare, and maintain financial reports using Qvinci and QuickBooks Enterprise/Desktop. Assist management with financial reporting and ad hoc financial analysis as requested. Reconcile revenue and investigate variances to ensure accuracy, completeness, and appropriate financial recognition. Assist in ensuring financial information is accurately reported across multiple entities and locations. Tax, Audit & Compliance Assist with annual audits, financial reviews, and other external reporting requirements. Prepare schedules, reconciliations, documentation, and other information requested by auditors or external parties. Support compliance with established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Accounts Payable & Fixed Assets Support accounts payable functions and related general ledger activities as assigned. Assist with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, reconciliations, and maintenance of supporting records. Review accounting transactions and supporting documentation for accuracy and appropriate classification. Policies, Procedures & Internal Controls Assist in developing, documenting, and maintaining accounting policies and procedures. Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiencies, and strengthen financial controls. Support the implementation and consistent application of effective internal controls. Participate in accounting and finance projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. 3+ years of accounting experience, with public accounting experience preferred. Demonstrated experience with financial reporting and financial analysis. Experience performing general ledger reconciliations and supporting month-end close activities. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise and/or QuickBooks Desktop. Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Experience performing accounting functions for multiple entities and/or locations. Qvinci experience. Experience supporting annual audits or financial reviews. Experience with revenue reconciliation, accounts payable, and fixed asset accounting. Strong attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy. Ability to organize and manage multiple assignments, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities. Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, research, and resolve financial discrepancies.
