Job Description
Job Summary:
The Senior Staff Accountant plays a key role in the monthly close process, financial reporting, and operational accounting support across the property. This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial data through detailed reconciliations, accruals, and analysis, while partnering cross-functionally with departments such as F&B, Cage, and Operations.SCOPE:
This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, a high level of ownership, and the ability to identify process improvements in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting Execute key components of the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of reconciling items Support financial statement preparation and assist in identifying trends or discrepancies Manage amortization schedules and ensure proper expense recognition Reconciliations & Operational Accounting Perform detailed F&B reconciliations, including revenue, comps, and cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis Investigate and resolve F&B discrepancies and operational issues as they arise Complete payroll reconciliations, ensuring alignment between payroll systems and general ledger Reconcile kiosk, ATM, and cash activity, including high-volume transactional review Assist with revenue and banking entries, ensuring proper classification and accuracy Accruals & Expense Management Prepare and analyze month-end accruals across multiple departments Monitor expense trends and support department leaders with financial insight where needed Audit & Compliance Assist with year-end audit and support external auditors with requested documentation and analysis Ensure compliance with internal controls, gaming regulations, and accounting policies Assist with regulatory filings, tax support, and licensing requirements Process Improvement & Team Support Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce manual effort, and strengthen controls Assist in training and mentoring staff accountants and other team members Support special projects and cross-functional initiatives as assignedEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Two or more years of accounting experience required. Experience with month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations preferred. Experience with F&B reconciliation, payroll reconciliation, COGS, amortization, and bank/revenue entries preferred. Prior experience in casino, hospitality, food and beverage, or other high-volume accounting environment preferred. Strong Microsoft Excel skills required. Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software preferred. Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Must possess strong cross-department communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Finance, Operations, F&B, Cage, Payroll, and other departments. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must pass all required pre-screening and background checks. Internal candidates must meet the eligibility requirements as provided in the Transfer and Promotion policy. Ability to work a variety of shifts, this includes day, swing, late-night, weekend, and holiday shifts as scheduled. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid New Hampshire gaming license.
