Opportunity:
My client, one of the fastest-growing companies in the construction industry, is looking to hire a Senior Accountant. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who wants to own the full accounting operation on the ground, not just contribute pieces of it. You'll be the go-to accounting person in the building, with a direct report leaning on you daily. You'll get real ownership over job costing and work-in-progress reporting, the kind of exposure that sharpens your read on project financials fast. Sitting onsite, you'll work closely with project and operations leadership, not from a spreadsheet three states away. If you're ready to step out of a purely transactional role and into one where you're trusted to run the books and develop someone below you, this is that next move.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the go-to onsite lead for all day-to-day accounting activity, the person the team turns to first Own work-in-progress schedules and job costing, keeping project financials accurate and audit-ready Mentor and oversee a direct report, reviewing their AP/AR work and building their skills over time Apply percentage-of-completion accounting to make sure revenue recognition matches real project status Manage general ledger activity, including journal entries and account reconciliations, top to bottom Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including prepaids, catching issues before they snowball Step in on payroll and banking activity as needed to keep operations moving Bring a construction-accounting mindset to every close, spotting variances before they become surprises
Must-Have Skills:
Comfortable serving as the sole onsite accounting lead, owning the full day-to-day function with confidence Strong hands-on experience with WIP schedules, job costing, and percentage-of-completion accounting Experience reviewing or mentoring at least one direct report
Nice-to-Have Skills:
Familiarity with construction-specific financial certifications or industry associations (e.g., CCIFP) Experience owning payroll and banking functions in addition to core accounting Comfortable managing balance sheet reconciliations, including prepaids and accruals
