This is a long-term contract opportunity suited for a detail-oriented candidate who can contribute quickly, manage daily accounting activities with minimal direction, and bring strong analytical judgment to complex account issues. The ideal candidate will combine solid technical accounting knowledge with the ability to investigate discrepancies, interpret transaction activity, and help maintain accurate financial records.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and record journal entries accurately and in a timely manner to support routine accounting operations. Perform bank and account reconciliations, resolve variances, and ensure balances are properly supported. Assist with month-end closing activities by reviewing accounts, organizing supporting documentation, and helping meet reporting deadlines. Analyze general ledger activity to identify unusual items, research underlying transactions, and recommend appropriate corrections. Support day-to-day accounting functions across the department, adapting to changing priorities in a high-volume environment. Investigate accounting discrepancies and work through issues independently to determine practical and accurate resolutions. Review how transactions move through the ERP system and use that understanding to improve accuracy and troubleshoot posting concerns. Contribute to tax-related accounting support, including work connected to corporate tax, sales tax, and related financial records as needed. Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required. Prior accounting experience in a hands-on role is required. Demonstrated ability to prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close activities. Strong background in reconciliations, account analysis, and general ledger review. Experience researching transaction details and resolving accounting discrepancies independently. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, or corporate tax return support is a plus. Detail-oriented, dependable, and capable of managing responsibilities with minimal supervision.
