Job Description
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 2-4 years of alternative investments experience gained within a fund, fund administrator, or Big Four/midsize public accounting firm performing fund audits.
- Experience with fund accounting, financial reporting, and investment accounting.
- General understanding of portfolio accounting and the investment management industry.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, client-facing environment.
- Experience supporting hedge funds, private equity funds, CLOs, or similar alternative investment vehicles.
- CPA or progress toward CPA certification.
- Experience with Advent applications.
- Knowledge of the Confluence financial reporting platform.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or senior-level fund accounting experience.
This position will work with alternative investment vehicles including hedge funds, private equity funds, CLOs, and other complex investment structures. The ideal candidate will bring 2-4 years of alternative investments experience gained with a fund, fund administrator, or Big Four/midsize public accounting firm supporting fund audits.
The role also provides opportunities for team oversight and serves as an escalation point for client accounting and reporting matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accounting, administration, financial reporting, and regulatory reporting services for alternative investment clients.
- Support and provide oversight to a team of fund administrators/accounting professionals.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, developing an understanding of their evolving business needs and investment strategies.
- Act as an escalation point for assigned clients and coordinate resolution of accounting, reporting, and operational issues.
- Review accounting records and financial statement information prepared for audit and tax reviews.
- Establish and document appropriate accounting treatment for unusual or complex investment types.
- Review and support the processing of complex expense allocations, incentive fee calculations, and reconciliation items.
- Identify potential financial, operational, and client-related risks through qualitative and quantitative analysis.
- Anticipate issues and implement solutions designed to mitigate risk and improve processes.
- Recommend and implement process changes that enhance service delivery and support client requirements.
