Job Description

Rago/Wright is seeking a precise and proactive Accountant to lead the post-sale financial workflow for our Lambertville-based auctions. Joining a collaborative team within a nationally recognized network, you will manage Accounts Receivable in QuickBooks Online and perform the primary, high-detail review of consignor statements to ensure our sellers are paid accurately and on schedule. This is an on-site role in Lambertville, NJ. Rago/Wright is a network of auction houses specializing in fine art, design, decorative arts, jewelry and watches, and pop culture. Comprised of six industry-leading brands - Rago, Wright, LA Modern Auctions, Toomey & Co., Poster Auctions International, and Landry Pop Auctions - we represent a powerful force in the marketplace. With galleries in Lambertville, NJ, Chicago, IL, Los Angeles, CA, and New York City, NY, our teams collaborate across departments and locations, work closely together to support the company leading up to and during auctions and exhibitions in a fast-paced and creatively driven environment. Key Responsibilities:
On-Site Accounts Receivable & Revenue Reconciliation:
Directly manage the AR Aging report in QuickBooks Online following auctions Record and reconcile incoming payments (wire transfers, ACH, and credit cards) against open invoices Lead professional collections outreach for outstanding balances, maintaining a high level of service Provide real-time status updates to colleagues
Consignor Statement Review & Audit:
Perform primary audit of preliminary consignor statements to verify that agreed-upon details are accurately recorded Reconcile lots within QBO to ensure payouts are correct Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between the sale ledger and contracts before final approval Provide customer service including email and phone correspondence
Financial Reporting, Administration and Other:
Assist with month-end closing and reporting Maintain meticulous digital and physical records for annual audit readiness Support the preparation of 1099-MISC/NEC reporting and state-specific sales tax filings Aid in auction bidder approvals and bidder customer service
Qualifications:
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required
Experience:
1-3 years of accounting experience; a background or interest in the art market, luxury goods, or consignment-based businesses is preferred but not required Proven experience with QuickBooks Online (specifically receiving payments, AR reporting, and reconciliation) Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables) for reconciling complex sale data Proficient in standard computer programs such as Word, Excel, Slack, and database systems Exceptional attention to detail for managing high-value transactions Proactive and self-motivated Comfortable communicating professionally and working with high-end clientele and internal stakeholders Intellectually curious with a desire to learn and develop new skillsets and improve legacy processes (especially via automation) Comfort with high volume and a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment Agile thinker, capable of navigating the unknown and working independently
Benefits:
Salary:
