Project Accountant / Bookkeeper (Construction)

Available After Training Period About the Opportunity Our client, a growing construction company in the Moonachie, NJ area , is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant / Bookkeeper to join their team. This role is ideal for someone with construction accounting experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys managing multiple projects while maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, comfortable with heavy data entry, and experienced with construction accounting processes including AIA billing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting. Key Responsibilities Process high-volume data entry with strong attention to detail Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions Prepare and process AIA billings Maintain and monitor Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules Support Percentage-of-Completion (POC) accounting Create and maintain jobs, contracts, budgets, and change orders Process check runs and cut checks for vendors and subcontractors Reconcile accounts and assist with month-end close activities Ensure accuracy of project financial data and reporting Collaborate with project managers and operations teams on project-related accounting matters Qualifications 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably within the construction industry Experience with AIA billing, WIP reporting, and POC accounting required Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes Experience creating and managing contracts, budgets, and change orders Strong data entry and organizational skills Proficiency with accounting and construction software systems Experience with ComputerEase is highly preferred Strong Microsoft Excel and general computer skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities What We Offer Stable and growing organization Opportunity to make an immediate impact Collaborative team environment Hybrid work flexibility available after successful training and onboarding Competitive compensation based on experience
