Job Description

Overview Epic Management, Inc. is seeking a Construction Project Accountant to support the financial management of our construction projects. This position works closely with project management and accounting personnel to maintain accurate project cost information, monitor budgets and commitments, prepare financial reports, and support the timely and accurate processing of project-related transactions. The ideal candidate has strong accounting experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers and company leadership. Construction or project-based accounting experience is preferred. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate accounting records for assigned construction projects, including job costs, accounts payable, accounts receivable, project billings, and general ledger activity. Review and monitor project costs, commitments, budgets, and cost variances. Work with Project Managers and Project Executives to maintain project budgets and forecasts and identify potential cost or profitability issues. Prepare project financial reports, cost analyses, cash-flow information, and profitability reporting. Review subcontractor and vendor invoices for appropriate project and cost-code allocation. Assist with project billing, retainage, change-order accounting, and reconciliation of project accounts. Maintain accurate financial information within Epic's construction accounting/ERP system. Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to assigned projects. Assist with internal and external audit requests and maintain appropriate accounting documentation and internal controls. Ensure accounting activities are performed consistently with GAAP and Epic's established financial procedures. Communicate financial information clearly to project management and accounting leadership. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 2-5 years of accounting experience, with experience in construction, construction management, engineering, or another project-based environment preferred. Working knowledge of construction job-cost accounting preferred. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, debits and credits, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with Spectrum or another construction ERP/accounting system strongly preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines accurately. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with accounting and project-management personnel. Compensation $65,000-$85,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
