Job Description

Property Accountant Multifamily Portfolio - Two Properties / 960 Units Combined Position Summary The Property Accountant will own full-cycle accounting for a two-property, 960-unit multifamily portfolio, serving as the primary financial point of contact for on-site property management. The role combines core property accounting (general ledger, AP, reconciliations, close, reporting) with on-site administrative responsibilities including payroll, benefits, and office management. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role suited to someone comfortable moving between technical accounting work and day-to-day property operations support. This role reports to the Director of Site Operations. Key Responsibilities Property Accounting & Financial Reporting General Ledger management, including recurring, accrual, reclass, and adjusting journal entries Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) at the property level and on a consolidated portfolio basis Record intercompany transactions and ensure proper allocation of shared costs and expenses across properties and ownership entities Maintain supporting schedules — prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, security deposits — and ensure they tie out to the GL Accounts Payable Manage the full AP cycle end-to-end: invoice receipt, GL/property coding, approval routing, and timely vendor payment processing Maintain vendor files, W-9 collection, and year-end 1099 reporting Resolve vendor inquiries, payment disputes, and discrepancies Monitor utility accounts for vacant units to control unnecessary carrying costs
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
