We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a company based in New Jersey. This Long-term Contract position is well suited for someone who can manage daily financial activities, maintain accurate records, and contribute to a timely month-end close. The ideal candidate brings hands-on accounting experience and a solid understanding of reconciliations, ledger maintenance, and tax-related tasks.

Responsibilities:

Perform bank account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting. Maintain and update the general ledger by preparing and recording routine and adjusting journal entries. Process accounts payable activities, including invoice review, coding, and payment support. Assist with month-end closing procedures by preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and account analysis. Support corporate and sales tax activities, including data gathering and preparation assistance for filings and returns. Review financial records for accuracy and completeness while helping strengthen day-to-day accounting controls. At least 2 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role. Practical experience with bank reconciliations, general ledger activity, accounts payable, and month-end close responsibilities. Knowledge of journal entry preparation and account analysis. Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, and support for corporate tax return processes. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively. Proficiency with standard accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
