Jr Accountant (Albany Housing Authority)
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
An incumbent in this class performs accounting functions and has direct and indirect responsibility for the accounting functions related to the books and records assigned. Work is performed under general supervision of the Accountant II title. The position independently performs accounting work in connection with a variety of accounting assignments and does related work as required. The work is primarily of a routine nature.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
(Illustrative only) Performs all accounts payable functions using software provided (Tenmast at present) Processes daily cash receipts Assists in month end closing process Prepares schedules for and provides support to the Accountant II and other titles Processes monthly reconciliations for some bank accounts Posts journal entries to ledgers Processes utility bills, including tracking of usage Performs related work as required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of office terminology and computer equipment Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices Experience with the use of spreadsheets, word processing programs and other related Microsoft Office programs Ability to accurately prepare accounting records High degree of accuracy Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions Ability to organize and plan work assigned Ability to communicate well with others Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's Degree (or higher) in accounting or closely related field and three (3) years full-time paid satisfactory experience working in the Accounting field; OR (B) Graduation from high school and Five (5) years of full-time paid satisfactory experience working in the Accounting field OR (C) Any equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above. Grade 9 Salary $49,271.96
