Job Description

Position Summary This position will report directly to the accounting manager and CFO. Staff accountant is responsible for processing accounts payable for the college, reconciling college's bank, and Investment accounts as well as entering and posting journal entries. Staff accountant will review monthly credit card reconciliations for completeness and post in Jenzabar. In addition, this position will reconcile GL accounts, assist in preparing work papers for the annual audit, act as a back up to payroll, and work on other projects as assigned. Staff accountant will support the mission of the college and will handle confidential information with discretion. Job Duties and Responsibilities Reconcile monthly bank statements. Reconcile monthly investment statements. Review monthly credit card reconciliations for completeness and post to Jenzabar ERP. Enter monthly credit card maintenance receipts Process credit card applications and order new cards for staff following college's policy Review positive pay Review and act on O/S checks list; provide student O/S check list to SFS Process accounts payable, including student refunds: Receive and match invoices to the outstanding POs Accurately code and enter invoices for payment in the Jenzabar ERP Process checks/ACH payments and mail payments out to vendors in a timely manner. Research and respond to vendor inquiries. Set up and maintain vendor records; collect W-9s; process 1099 at the year end. Collect and file general liability and workmen's comp certificates Distribute daily incoming mail to business office. Process annual real property applications Assist accounting manager with monthly cash projection. Assist accounting manager in documenting processes and workflows Assist staff with PO system (JICS portal) Assist accounting manager with annual audit, and workmen's comp audit Act as a back up to payroll. Education and/or Experience Associate degree required/ Bachelor preferred. 2-4 years of prior work experience required. Prior experience with bank reconciliations, accounts payable processing, payroll and working Jenzabar software is a plus. Experience in an office setting. Skills Staff accountant must have attention to detail as well as exceptional interpersonal skills to interact with students and college staff in interfacing departments. Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision are essential. Technology Skills Advanced competency in Windows operating environment using MS Office applications (specifically MS Word and Excel), e-mail and internet programs and have the aptitude to learn and efficiently utilize the College's data base system.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger or feel and to perceive by eye and receive information visually. The employee is frequently required to utilize close vision at 20" or less. Reaching, kneeling and potentially stooping are required for file maintenance and walking is required at recruitment events. This is largely a sedentary role and the employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time. However, some moving of boxes for recruitment events, i.e., orientation materials, is required. This requires the ability to lift and carry up to 15 lbs. as necessary.
Equipment:
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Work Schedule Requirements:
A regular full-time schedule is typically worked in the office environment. On rare occasions, may also require and evening or weekend hours as needed to complete work assignments.
Salary range:
