Job Description
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist with the month-end close process, including ownership over certain monthly activities and account reconciliations for operational accounts.
- Own the calculation and report distribution for semi-monthly retail commissions, monthly/quarterly sales bonuses, and annual profitability bonuses.
- Own monthly report compilation and distribution for various departments, with a focus on retail.
- Act as the primary point of contact for retail financial questions.
- Manage Lease accounting and reporting to corporate team.
- Supervise staff accountants, which will include reviewing specific areas and gaining a more thorough understanding of current processes in order to make incremental improvements.
- Execute daily and monthly functions to support the Steinway & Sons team in accurately processing accounting transactions in accordance with GAAP and internal controls
- Assist with annual budgeting process
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency of existing processes and proposing enhancements
- Assist in the accumulation of support for the Company's annual audit and quarterly reviews.
- Provide reporting and analysis on specific programs that are implemented.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financials statements and annual tax packages.
- BA/BS degree in Accounting
- 4+ years of relevant accounting experience with a Public Accounting firm and/or SEC-registered company
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Active CPA license is required
- Must be a highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization
- Proficient in Excel; must be comfortable analyzing and manipulating large data sets
- Superior problem-solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines $100-110k/yr
