Job Description:
Job Overview:
Search Solution Group is seeking an Accountant on behalf of our client, an owner and operator of bulk electric transmission solutions, located in Fishkill, NY. This position is responsible for supporting the Accounting & Finance team by ensuring the timely preparation and reporting of monthly financial results, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with regulatory reporting and compliance. The Accountant will play a key role in financial close activities, reconciliations, audit support, and continuous process improvement while contributing to the organization's overall financial integrity and operational success.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, review, and record monthly journal entries Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate and resolve reconciling items Assist with monthly fixed asset accounting and depreciation calculations Process accounts payable invoices accurately and in a timely manner Complete monthly bank reconciliations Assist in the preparation of monthly income statements and balance sheets Prepare annual 1099 tax filings Support the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and related disclosures Assist with annual regulatory filings, including Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) reporting Provide documentation and support during annual external audits Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency and accuracy Assist with special projects and other accounting initiatives as assigned Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and applicable regulatory requirements Requirements include:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required Bachelor's degree in Finance with a concentration in Accounting will also be considered
Experience:
Previous accounting experience preferred Experience with month-end close and financial reporting preferred Experience in the utility, energy, or regulated industry is a plus Experience supporting audits and regulatory reporting preferred
Skills:
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency Excellent analytical and quantitative skills Strong organizational and time management abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Certifications:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred but not required
Knowledge:
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Financial statement preparation and month-end close processes General ledger accounting and account reconciliations Fixed asset accounting and depreciation Accounts payable and banking procedures Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Uniform System of Accounts preferred SAP ERP system knowledge preferred Regulatory reporting and audit support procedures
