Are you a detail-oriented, trustworthy financial professional who wants to play a vital role behind the scenes of a thriving school district? Greenville Central School District is seeking a dedicated District Treasurer / Payroll Clerk to join our Business Office team. Located in scenic Greene County—nestled between the historic Hudson River, the Catskill Mountains, and the Capital Region—Greenville Central School District serves approximately 1,000 students across a modern PK-12 campus. As the District Treasurer / Payroll Clerk, you will be a crucial safeguard of the district's fiscal integrity, ensuring our staff are paid accurately and on time, our financial records are pristine, and our business operations run seamlessly. Supporting Our Educators & Staff:
Accurate, timely, and transparent payroll processing ensures our teachers, support staff, and administrators can focus on what they do best—supporting students.
Fiscal Responsibility & Transparency:
Managing district cash flow, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting safeguards community resources and builds trust with taxpayers.
Collaborative Environment:
Work side-by-side with the School Business Official and Business Office team in a supportive, professional, and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities As District Treasurer:
Act as the official custodian of all district funds, managing bank accounts, cash flow, investments, and wire transfers in accordance with NYS Education Law and OSC guidelines. Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all district accounts and prepare clear, accurate Treasurer's Reports for the Board of Education. Monitor cash balances, co-sign district checks/disbursements, and assist with annual financial audits.
As Payroll Clerk:
Process bi-weekly payroll for all full-time, part-time, substitute, and seasonal employees with high accuracy and confidentiality. Maintain employee payroll records, including deductions, tax withholdings, retirement system reporting (TRS & ERS), health insurance contributions, and direct deposits. Reconcile payroll tax filings (Quarterly/Annual 941s, W-2s) and respond promptly to staff payroll inquiries with a warm, helpful approach. Job Qualifications High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field strongly preferred. Experience in public school district accounting, municipal finance, or payroll processing (experience with nVision is a major plus). Working knowledge of NYS Teachers' Retirement System (TRS), Employees' Retirement System (ERS), and payroll tax regulations. Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a high level of personal integrity and confidentiality.
