Role Description The Staff Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Huntington, NY. This position is responsible for day-to-day accounting activities, including recording journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, and reconciling ledger and credit card accounts. The Staff Accountant will prepare and manage commission reports, daily sales reports, assist controller and support payroll processing as needed. The role includes assisting with month-end and year-end closings, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies. The Staff Accountant will collaborate with the Senior Finance team to provide accurate financial information that supports business decisions and helps maintain the company's high service standards. Qualifications Strong foundational accounting skills, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, account reconciliations, and basic financial reporting. Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks), spreadsheets, and other financial tools used to manage and analyze data. Experience with ERP software (Aspire) a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Point, Excel, Outlook). Expert in Excel functions, pivot tables, vlookup etc. Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, collections vendor management, and payment tracking. Attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with finance, operations, and management teams. Understanding of GAAP or comparable accounting standards, with the ability to follow established procedures and internal controls. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in an accounting role. Prior experience in a small to mid-sized business environment; familiarity with design, construction, or luxury goods industries is a plus. Demonstrated integrity, discretion with confidential information, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
