Junior Accountant Location:
Poughkeepsie, NY Compensation:
$55,000–$60,000
Work Modality:

Position Summary:
The Junior Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization, ensuring financial records are accurate and maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role is ideal for an early-career accounting professional looking to grow their skills in financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger management while contributing to the overall financial health of the company.
Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and other routine adjustments Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and balance sheet schedules Perform bank reconciliations and assist with cash application and monitoring Analyze variances and support budgeting and forecasting activities Assist in preparing reports for internal management and external stakeholders Gather and organize documentation to support audits and tax filings Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper documentation of transactions Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting-related inquiries Utilize accounting systems and Excel to track, analyze, and report financial data Assist with process improvements and system enhancements where applicable Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of accounting or related experience Strong understanding of basic accounting principles Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs a plus) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Eagerness to learn and adapt to new systems and processes
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required EB-6246338328
