Job Description
Compensation:
based on experience American Yacht Club is looking for a Part-Time Accounting Associate, working a flexible schedule Monday thru Friday, 20 hours per week. This position will work closely with the Controller/CFO and the Billing Specialist.Key responsibilities include the following:
Accounts Payable- Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, including verifying accuracy, obtaining approvals and ensuring proper audit documentation
- Prepare check and ACH payments as per the payment schedules
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records
- Manage new vendor set up and maintain tax and banking information for existing vendor accounts, including the preparation of annual 1099s
- Communicate with vendors and internal departments
- Review and reconcile vendor statements
- Manage credit card accounts, including reconciling statements, making payments and coding charges
- Prepare and process monthly payments, including utilities, subscriptions, benefits and other operating expenses
- Manage internal expense reporting, including ensuring proper approvals and GL coding Month End Close
- Assist the accounting team with month end tasks, including, but not limited to the following: Account reconciliations, Processing journal entries, Variance analysis Compliance and ad hoc reporting
- Assist in pulling together company information for various compliance and reporting requirements
- Track capital expenditures, including maintaining schedules and monthly reports
- Assist with maintaining membership changes Qualifications
- Previous accounting, bookkeeping or related experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple invoices, payments, deadlines and requests.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment when handling financial information.
- Ability to work independently while also working effectively as part of an accounting team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with accounting or financial software.
