About the Staff Accountant Role Are you an analytical thinker with a passion for numbers and a drive to contribute to our financial success? Trustco Bank is seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of our financial accounts. The Staff Accountant plays a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. This position is responsible for maintaining detailed reconciliations, analyzing account activity, supporting month-end and year-end procedures, and completing ad hoc requests to strengthen the department's efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Reconcile Balance Sheet Accounts:
Prepare and sustain detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts daily and monthly, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Analyze Loan Performance:
Track and analyze non-performing loans monthly, providing insights and detailed reports to management for informed decision-making.
Manage Fixed Asset Ledger:
Maintain the Fixed Asset ledger and associated depreciation schedules on Sage Software. Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations to accurately reflect new purchases and disposals.
Handle Prepaid Expenses:
Oversee the Prepaid ledger, ensuring proper amortization and recording of prepaid expenses through timely journal entries and reconciliations.
Support Investment Management:
Assist in maintaining the Investment ledger through IPS, performing daily and monthly amortizations, and preparing reconciliations to guarantee proper investment recording.
Financial Reporting:
Support the timely reporting of key financial information, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with company standards. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business-related field (or equivalent experience). Strong verbal and written communication skills. Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities under time-sensitive deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Office programs. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Fluent in English; bilingual a plus Access to reliable transportation Schedule Full-time position; Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Physical Demands:
Primarily sedentary; includes use of standard office equipment.
