This position focuses on advanced tax compliance, planning, and advisory work across individual, partnership, and corporate engagements. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge in multi-state taxation, pass-through entities, and complex transaction analysis, along with the ability to manage deadlines and communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and examine intricate federal and state tax filings for individuals, partnerships, and corporate entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee pass-through entity tax calculations and filings while identifying practical strategies to improve tax efficiency.
  • Evaluate property sale transactions, including gain calculations and related state tax implications across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Maintain entity and transaction tax basis schedules and assess the impact of elections, adjustments, and structural changes.
  • Review state-specific modifications, addbacks, apportionment factors, nexus positions, and composite filing requirements.
  • Apply depreciation rules such as bonus depreciation and Section 179, and analyze book-to-tax adjustments including M-1 and M-3 reconciliations.
  • Monitor passive activity losses, carryforwards, amended filings, tax notices, and audit responses to support ongoing client compliance.
  • Develop year-end projections, recommend tax planning opportunities, and provide clear guidance on elections such as Section 754, like-kind exchanges, installment sales, and accounting method changes.
  • Manage multiple client engagements independently, communicate complex tax matters clearly, and coordinate with attorneys, advisors, and other professionals as needed.
  • Review the work of entry-level team members, offer technical coaching, and use tax software tools to streamline preparation, review, and workflow management. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation or active progress toward licensure is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing complex tax returns in a public accounting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of pass-through entities, multi-state taxation, entity structures, and state compliance requirements.
  • Hands-on ability to analyze tax basis, depreciation methods, book-to-tax differences, and advanced tax elections.
  • Proficiency with tax software and solid technical skills in research, documentation, and workflow management.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and client communication skills with the ability to work independently and meet competing deadlines.
  • Prior experience mentoring entry-level staff and reviewing deliverables for quality and technical accuracy.
