This role will work closely with the Accounting Manager and broader accounting team to ensure accurate financial information, maintain compliance with company procedures, and contribute to the efficient operation of the department. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and looking to grow their accounting career in a collaborative construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Process and review owner billings and subcontractor pay applications, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, lien waiver requirements, and supporting documentation. Assist with contract administration, including maintaining contract values, change orders, budgets, and project-related documentation. Assist Project Managers and the Controller with monthly cost projections, forecasting, and identification of potential budget or profitability concerns. Support the monthly close process, including account reconciliations and journal entries. Assist with maintaining project accounting data and ensuring financial information is accurate and up to date. Manage city contractor registrations for various job locations. Support external audit requests by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects to enhance accounting and project management workflows. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience preferred. Must be accountable to research problems and resolve to completion, escalate issues promptly, learn and apply knowledge quickly, and meet deadlines. Must be organized, detail oriented, maintain accuracy, and self-check work. Able to work independently with some oversight and in a team environment. Must follow established procedures and execute directions to completion. Must have good work ethic and integrity, dependable, adaptable, cooperative, and motivated to take on new responsibilities. Professional written and verbal communication abilities and general office skills. Basic Excel experience required; advanced functionality is a plus. Viewpoint Spectrum experience is a plus. Construction accounting experience is a plus.
