Exempt Summary:
The Senior Portfolio Accountant is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of property management accounts, ensuring financial accuracy, client satisfaction, and operational excellence. This role requires a strategic thinker who is also a strong team player, working collaboratively across departments to drive financial performance and support the organization's goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages and oversees a portfolio of client accounts, serving as the primary point of contact for financial matters. Prepares, examines, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, and reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. Develops, implements, and maintains recordkeeping and accounting systems, leveraging current computer technology. Conducts month-end and year-end close processes; prepares budget and financial forecasts. Publishes financial statements in a timely manner and develops periodic reports for management. Collects, analyzes, and summarizes account information across assigned portfolio. Audits financial transactions and documents accounting control procedures. Reports to management and clients regarding the finances of assigned accounts. Partners cross-functionally with operations, leasing, and maintenance teams to support seamless account management. Identifies opportunities for process improvement and recommends solutions to business and financial problems. Keeps current with financial policies, regulations, and legislation. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Experience and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; Associate's degree with significant relevant experience considered. Minimum of three to five years of experience in accounting or property management finance; prior portfolio management experience strongly preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel. Experience with property management software (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, ResMan, or similar) is a plus. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90 percent of the time while operating their computer and performing office work. The individual needs to occasionally move about inside the office. They constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. They must be able to exchange accurate information with clients and team members while interacting. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The individual must be capable of reviewing their work for errors and make adjustments as necessary.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the individual is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The individual frequently works in a controlled climate at our Blue Ash, Ohio office.
