Join one of the nation's largest and most innovative housing authorities. CMHA is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to lead critical financial operations in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This role involves managing complex accounting tasks, ensuring accurate, timely reporting, supporting audits, and mentoring staff, all while upholding our core values: Respect, Integrity, Accountability, Professionalism, Creativity, Initiative, Quality, and Excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead general ledger, reconciliations, AP/AR, and month/year-end closings. Prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including HUD. Support audits and ensure strong internal controls. Guide budgeting and financial planning efforts. Mentor staff and contribute to process improvement. Ensure compliance with public housing financial regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in accounting or finance. 5+ years of experience, including 2+ in a senior-level role. Strong GAAP knowledge and Excel proficiency. Experience in government or nonprofit finance a plus. Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
