POSITION/JOB SUMMARY
  • Under the direction of the Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for the following essential functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Prepares monthly and annual financial statements along with supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Reviews trial balance reports and analyze unusual balances or variances following the monthly close.
  • Assists with all aspects of the annual audit process, including preparation of audit schedules, materials and supplies inventory audits, bus inventory audits, and coordination with external auditors.
  • Prepares recurring and special general ledger journal entries, including those related to cash activity, prepaids, and accruals.
  • Interfaces payroll, inventory, and subledger files into the general ledger accurately and on schedule; inputs all journal entries as required.
  • Reconciles various general ledger accounts and prepares detailed account schedules and bank reconciliations.
  • Maintains key financial systems and data, including the Chart of Accounts, general ledger report writer, and the Monthly Close Control Sheet; performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an exempt, pay grade 13 position with an initial salary hiring range of $54,104 (minimum) to $67,632 (midpoint), dependent on qualifications and experience.
