Overview Performs functions necessary to compile, analyze, interpret, report and maintain the integrity of financial information in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Federal regulations, Tribal legislation, and Financial Resources policies and procedures. Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related degree. Prefer Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related degree.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
An additional one (1) year of experience required.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should have knowledge of Accounting, Database, Inventory, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software, and Payroll systems.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS A
driver's license may be required to work in some departments. If so, the applicant/employee must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must possess the ability to produce and interpret financial statements and internal reports, organize work to meet deadline requirements, and prepare presentations for training. Must also have good written and oral communication skills, and the analytical skills to propose journal entries and monitor results.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA Candidate a plus. Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
