Full Job Description SUMMARY:
Obie Companies, a Eugene-based organization that specializes in property management, hospitality management, and development, is looking for a detail-oriented professional to join our team as an Accounting Associate. The primary objective of the Accounting Associate is to handle the day-to-day finance operations for Obie Companies hotel properties. This role is responsible for collecting, analyzing and verifying financial data and accurately recording the data into the accounting system. The Accounting Associate also generates various financial reports and communicates effectively with hotel management in a deadline driven environment. The Accounting Associate reports to the Chief Accounting Officer for Obie companies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Processes invoices in a timely and accurate manner, making sure to obtain the appropriate approvals. Make weekly check and electronic payments to vendors. Prepare and submit payroll to our payroll service provider. Prepare and record payroll journal entries. Frequently communicate with general managers of properties about invoices, payments and financial reports. Communicate with vendors to update them on payment status and resolve any discrepancies as needed. Prepare routine reports and summaries, including monthly financial reports and cashflow statements. Reconcile bank statements. Maintain confidentiality of all financial data. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
1-3 years of relevant, hands-on accounting experience. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, including Excel. 1 year of payroll processing experience is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Work Environment This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, laminators, and document binders, etc. The noise level is usually moderate. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time, frequent computer use, frequent phone use, lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs, and occasional reaching, pushing, squatting, pulling, and bending .
