Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Grant Accountant to support a non-profit organization in Salem, Oregon. This is a Contract position focused on maintaining accurate grant-related financial records and helping the team manage a staffing gap during the contract period. The ideal candidate brings strong Excel skills, experience with government grant accounting.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain grant-related accounting records and ensure financial activity is tracked accurately across multiple funding sources.
- Prepare, review, and update spreadsheets to support reporting, reconciliations, and ongoing financial analysis.
- Process accounting entries and related documentation with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Support the administration of government grant funding by monitoring transactions and helping maintain compliance with reporting requirements.
- Assist the finance team with month-end tasks, account reconciliations, and other core accounting support as needed.
- Help manage day-to-day grant accounting workload during a period of reduced team capacity.
- Contribute to both detailed accounting work and high-volume data entry tasks, depending on business needs. Requirements
- Experience in grant accounting, including tracking restricted funds and related financial activity.
- Working knowledge of government grant processes and compliance considerations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for organizing data, reviewing transactions, and preparing reports.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in both accounting tasks and data entry.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and remain productive in a deadline-driven environment.
- Background supporting finance or accounting operations within a non-profit setting is preferred.
