Job Description

Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of a manufacturing organization in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. This position offers the opportunity to contribute across core accounting activities, from maintaining accurate records to helping leadership understand financial performance. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and a practical approach to working with both finance and operational teams. Responsibilities:
  • Record and review journal entries to keep the general ledger accurate and current throughout each reporting cycle.
  • Perform account reconciliations and assist with monthly close activities to support timely and reliable financial statements.
  • Contribute to day-to-day accounting operations, including payable and receivable support, cash activity tracking, and fixed asset recordkeeping.
  • Handle inventory-related accounting by examining balances, researching differences, and processing necessary adjustments.
  • Assist with cost accounting tasks by analyzing production-related expenses such as labor, materials, and overhead variances.
  • Prepare recurring financial reports and highlight notable changes or unusual trends for management review.
  • Reconcile bank activity, balance sheet accounts, and intercompany balances to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Provide support for external audits, tax filings, and other compliance-driven financial reporting needs.
  • Work with cross-functional partners to investigate discrepancies, strengthen controls, and improve accounting workflows. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of accounting experience, ideally within a manufacturing or distribution setting.
  • Working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entry preparation, and month-end close procedures.
  • Experience completing account reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP or other accounting systems.
  • Understanding of corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return support is beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound organizational skills, and the ability to resolve issues independently.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across finance and operational teams.
