Job Description

Senior Accountant Job Description The Senior Accountant supports the month-end close process by preparing and reviewing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting schedules. This role maintains key balance sheet accounts, oversees inventory, cost, fixed asset, and capital expenditure accounting, and ensures strict compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal controls. The Senior Accountant tracks capital projects, accounts for asset acquisitions and capitalizations, and ensures accurate depreciation and fixed asset reporting. In addition, this position partners closely with operations, supply chain, and FP&A teams, assists with audit requests and financial statement preparation, and drives process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and financial controls within a growing manufacturing organization. Responsibilities

+ Support the month-end close process by preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting schedules.

+ Maintain and reconcile key balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.

+ Perform fixed asset accounting, including tracking asset acquisitions, capitalizations, disposals, and depreciation.

+ Manage capital expenditure accounting, including tracking capital projects and ensuring proper capitalization of costs.

+ Support inventory and cost accounting activities to ensure accurate valuation and reporting.

+ Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal control requirements across all accounting processes.

+ Prepare and maintain detailed financial schedules and reports to support internal and external reporting needs.

+ Assist with audit preparation by providing supporting documentation, reconciliations, and explanations as requested.

+ Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and related disclosures.

+ Partner with operations, supply chain, and FP&A teams to provide financial insights and support business decision-making.

+ Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and financial controls.

+ Utilize large-scale ERP systems to record transactions, maintain records, and generate reports.

+ Use Excel tools such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions to analyze financial data and support reporting.

+ Support continuous improvement of accounting policies, procedures, and systems within a manufacturing environment. Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.

+ At least 5 years of experience reconciling balance sheet accounts.

+ At least 5 years of experience recording journal entries.

+ At least 5 years of fixed asset accounting experience.

+ At least 2 years of capital expenditure accounting experience.

+ Experience working within the manufacturing industry from 2023 or later.

+ Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and its application to financial reporting and controls.

+ Demonstrated ability to perform balance sheet reconciliations accurately and on time.

+ Proficiency in preparing and reviewing journal entries for month-end close.

+ Experience with audit preparation, including providing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

+ Ability to create and use pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions in Excel for data analysis and reporting.

+ Proficiency working within a large-scale ERP system for general ledger and financial reporting activities.

+ Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial records.

+ Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as operations, supply chain, and FP&A. Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with Syteline ERP or similar manufacturing-focused ERP systems.

+ Background in inventory and cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.

+ Experience tracking capital projects and preparing related financial schedules.

+ Ability to identify and implement process improvements in accounting workflows.

+ Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data to support decision-making.

+ Effective communication skills to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

+ Demonstrated ability to work in a growing organization and adapt to changing business needs. Work Environment This role is based onsite, with the expectation of working fully on site during the first couple of months for training and onboarding. After demonstrating proficiency and completing initial training, there is flexibility to work 1-2 days per week remotely. The organization operates in a manufacturing environment that produces equipment such as ice machines used by major food service and healthcare customers. The accounting team leverages large-scale ERP systems and advanced Excel tools to manage financial data and support business operations. The work setting emphasizes collaboration with operations, supply chain, and FP&A teams, and supports professional growth within a company that is experiencing ongoing expansion.
