Staff Accountant Financial Reporting & Analysis Role Overview We're seeking a Staff Accountant to support core accounting, reporting, and analysis activities within a collaborative and fast-paced finance team. This role is ideal for someone with a solid grounding in debits and credits, strong Excel skills, and an interest in expanding into data analysis and modern reporting tools. You'll gain exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities, work closely with business partners, and develop skills beyond traditional close work. Key Responsibilities Assist with month-end close and financial reporting activities Prepare and post journal entries across balance sheet and income statement accounts Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules Prepare and support filing of select business tax returns (e.g., sales & use, business privilege, personal property), ensuring accuracy and compliance Complete balance sheet reconciliations, including prepaid expenses and accruals Perform financial statement variance analysis and provide explanations Support forecasting and plan vs. actual analysis Prepare and analyze profit & loss statements for assigned business units or regions and respond to management inquiries Assist with internal and external audit requests Collaborate with business stakeholders on ad-hoc analysis and reporting needs What We're Looking For 2+ years of accounting experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or Business with a strong accounting concentration) Strong understanding of core accounting principles (debits & credits) High proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and lookups Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage deadlines effectively Strong time-management skills and a positive, team-first attitude Exposure to or interest in modern reporting and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Alteryx, similar platforms) Comfortable interacting with business partners and explaining financial results Nice to Have Background in large, complex organizations or service-driven environments Interest in blending accounting and analysis rather than a pure close-only role Curiosity around systems, process improvement, and data visualization Why This Role Supportive, collaborative team environment Diverse responsibilities beyond traditional accounting tasks Exposure to business leaders and cross-functional partners Beacon Hill is an equal opportunity employer and individuals with disabilities and/or protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
